I felt so defeated in today’s WOD. I finished it with Shanna on my left and Corey on my right encouraging me to hang tough and get through it. I felt like I was on The Biggest Loser. Thanks for the support!
Kim, today was a combination of my three most hated exercises: thrusters, OHS, and burpees. Shanna could have thrown in an 800m run just to make it pure torture for me, but thankfully, I was saved from that. I was dead last again and finished with half the 6:00 am class in my face counting down the OHS for me. Eh…so I use it as fuel for the next time Jeremy comes around. I couldn’t even do ONE 65 lb OHS in December…and today I did 45. Stick with it, woman. As Shanna has said to me more than once…you’ll laugh about this a year from now.
Thanks for the support and encouragement. I think burpees and OHS take a lot of strength, flexibilty and coordination which I lack. My determination is what helps me get through them. I will stick with it though and hope that I’ll laugh about this a year from now.
We havent done burpees yet in this month’s OnRamp .. I know what they are though, thanks to a fellow crossfitter who encouraged me to sign up and showed me in the middle of our office. I could only imagine, so far, what you went through today Kim. you should be proud, you stayed in the game. My first go with knees to elbows today…. oye.
Wow. I have 3 things to say. I swapped out 5:30 a.m. for 6:30 pm class today.
1. Elizabeth Hake. I saw her Rx this WOD with mine own eyes. She is a strong, strong woman.
2. Evening CFA people are just as welcoming, supportive and awesome as morning CFA people.
3. I can’t wait until I look back a year from now and laugh at my time and weights. I plan to laugh really, really hard.
we do need more ‘mixers’…monthly something or the others…i guess winter is tougher to do that though. glad to see you with us peoples that is too lazy to get up at the crack o’ dawn…well, i know i am…it’s a biorythm thing, i swear!
We can all have a huge party at my house in a year to laugh and laugh at our weights and times. Miriam, think about how awesome your L-sit will be by then! You can amaze all of us by doing a ridiculously long L-sit on my rings while you laugh.
See, Miriam, isn’t this school delay useful? Think about all we can accomplish on the internet instead of going to work. When you grow up, you should Rx Fran…because she is the most evil. I’m almost sad thinking about the day that I grow up and finally get through an OHS WOD without falling on my butt…it provides such entertainment for the rest of the 6:00 am class.
Miriam, if you promise to go to Claire’s and get one of the BFF necklaces where we each get half of the heart, I am all over the pullups. As for the school system, perhaps I should send them a link to the HTFU video…
M3, please explain qigong? What’s that supposed to do for me? Will it stop my yawning? T, you are on. My daughter knows where Claire’s is and I will get you our BFF necklace! Ha ha! Hannah says she will get her ears pierced while we are there…wait, not until you are 13, chica.
SD AZ Sectional WODs are posted. Flying pullups. Box jumps at 30″/25.5″. HSPUs. Squat clean thrusters at 135/95 lbs. FLYING PULLUPS! Wow.

Kim: this may not make sense as it comes from a fighter’s perspective but, here you are: It’s not failure if you try, it’s just a loss.
The only failure or defeat is in not trying at all.
Keep at it.
The #1 best thing about Crossfit, and CFA in particular, is the support system. You’re not alone in this.

KB Thrusters @ 35, 45, 53, 76 and 76 (76 was 3 on each side)
Jeremy: Rx’d at 7:53 (i think)

When I grow up, I would like to move beyond my L-sit skills and actually rx something. I don’t care which WOD, just something! Get the rings ready, T.
M3, I am an early riser by circumstance, not choice. I yawn through the entire WOD, which can’t possbily help my performance!
isn’t yawning an response to low oxygen in the system?
Yes, it is. I am pretty much oxygen depleted every day because my days go from 4:30 a.m. to 11:00 pm.
Maybe I’ll show up to my next workout hooked up to an oxygen tank to see if my performance improves.
See, Miriam, isn’t this school delay useful? Think about all we can accomplish on the internet instead of going to work. When you grow up, you should Rx Fran…because she is the most evil. T, help me learn how to do an unassisted pull up and I will be your BFF.
Also, T, will you please email the city school system and tell them to HTFU?
Miriam: you know any qigong? perhaps a bit of that before a WOD.
Miriam, if you promise to go to Claire’s and get one of the BFF necklaces where we each get half of the heart, I am all over the pullups. As for the school system, perhaps I should send them a link to the HTFU video…

‘qi’= breath…trippy, hippy types want to tell you it means ‘vital life force’
‘gong’ = work
‘breath work’ or simply, intentional breathing exercises.
