Inspire – to produce or arouse a feeling or thought.
Motivate – to give incentive to.
Inspiration is showing your progress despite your downfalls so that others can see their own downfalls as workable. Every CrossFit competition I go to I am inspired. I see top notch athletes work until they falter and then work again. None of them come up to me and say, “you need to CrossFit for such and such reasons, you need to work hard for that reason, etc.” I know that to make progress in their direction, whether or not I ever achieve their level, I must work until I falter, and then work again.
I never motivate a single one of my members. There is no point because motivation comes from within. I cannot tell you what is important to you. I cannot give you motive. What I can do is show you the progress that I make and how I do it. What I can do is show you others who do the same things day in and day out.
I feel all of you should look to inspire others as well. Don’t tell them why they need to be healthier. Don’t tell them why they need to eat better, or be more active. Inspire them by your own progress. Inspire them by living a lifestyle that you enjoy and is attainable to everyone who finds their own motivation.
Giving someone a motive measn they can deny their urge to even have the motive. It is a forceful action that has a timeline. You want results of your motivation immediately. But inspiring them simply by being is undeniable. You exist, as you are, day in and day out, simply explaining YOUR path, and what YOU have done. Others can draw their own conclusions about whether it is for them or not.
Who inspires you? What fiber of your being is inspirational?

To change the world, change yourself.
I love this post! Such a good reminder to follow my own path and not worry myself with how other people follow theirs. Thanks for this!
I think CFA is an incredible community and full of inspirational stories. We have grown to include people of various levels of fitness and a variety of backgrounds. A new problem has emerged in getting to know the greater CFA community.
I have had the pleasure of seeing some of the changes people have made and hearing many stories of the path individuals have taken. I think we could all benefit from hearing about the progress members of our community have made with diet, exercise and other changes to improve their fitness.
I would love to see members blog about their experience or even share an occasional story in the comments section of this website. If you have a blog, leave us the link. If you have had recent success you are proud of, share it with us. I think the community is what makes Crossfit great, better than any other fitness program. We can all draw inspiration from the successes of others, no matter the incremental change.
To all my fellow athletes at CFA, you inspire me. Keep up the great effort of changing yourself to become happier, healthier and the fittest person you can be.
i have this silly habit of ‘theming’ my years and even though my birthday is still two and a half months out, i’ve already been brain storming ideas of what 32 will be. ironically, i pretty much decided a couple weeks ago that it’s going to be the year of “inspiration and all things beautiful” which, of course, would involve inspiring others as well as being inspired by others. this only confirms!
Corey’s bunny ears are motivational and inspirational.
I would be more than happy to post stories/experiences of our clients! I am extremely proud of each and every one of you. Every single one of you has improved since walking into the gym. And while many of you thank me for this progress, as I have said before I have not done a single one of the reps that brought you to where you are today.
A big thanks to each of you who are all part of what makes our CFA community so special!
Although I am doing the reps, making the decision to eat or what not to eat and making sure I schedule all of my appointments each week around making it to crossfit…without the encouragment and counseling that the coaches provide I probably would get tired of it like I have workouts in the past and not come back. So yes…thank you for bringing this vision to Asheville, for yelling, for emailing, for watching form, for being you. I am definitely inspired!
Congrats to Tayler, Elin and Tara for your first competition. That takes both moxy and motivation. You are all an inspiration to the rest of us. You survived and you are indeed the Fittest!
I’m tearing up again (although ‘the wuz’ has me all strung out this evening, anyway, so maybe it’s not all CFLove). Have so much to say on this topic. . .will have to write, edit, write, edit, cry, write, edit and then get back to you. For now, just thanks, as always. So grateful for you guys – and that, when coming up with how to get myself out of the latest wuz-inspired funk, I hit upon the idea of requesting a special sledge-hammer/truck tire healing session in the morning. Never would have known how happy it could make me without you! – and all of the wonderful things our CF community shares.
I love thinking about this thread and the people who inspire me. Recently, I worked for a woman that physically works hard to accomplish everyday tasks. She is very inspiring and here is a video WLOS did about her.
