After watching this video of Pat squat 200lbs you might not believe that in June 2011, he was only squatting 60 pounds on a twenty-four inch box.
A couple years ago, Pat was overweight, hypertensive and ready to schedule a knee and the second hip replacement with his orthopedic doctor. Pat resisted changing his lifestyle because the doctors always said he was “borderline.” He was not heavy enough to focus on losing weight and his blood pressure was not high enough to change his diet. He’d heard about CrossFit Asheville from several different angles. First, he saw the crazy folks running around the block and flipping tires at the original Coxe Avenue location…then Robert Farmer mentioned Crossfit at a poker game…and then the kicker came when his Rolfer Kate said, “Go see Corey if you want to get right.”
After an initial assessment and a racquet ball injury, Pat decided to commit to working out twice a week in the Stay Active Clinic. Drinking less, cutting down on pasta and saying “no” to pizza and fried foods kept the pounds falling off at a rate of 3 pounds per week. Pat has transformed from a 250 pound man (scared to climb stairs) to a 195 pound stair-climber. He has warded off his second hip replacement with sheer strength and maintains that everyone has two choices, “You can be sore after the workout or sore all the time…no questions.”
Pat’s orthopedic doctor is impressed with his range of motion and strength and his family was shocked to see his dramatic improvement. He attributes this success to the accountability provided by the Stay Active Clinic, “working out with Corey lasts for more than just a day.” Pat, we are darn proud of your success in the gym! Keep up the good work!

I am so proud of my husband for all his accomplishments. He has been dedicated to this from day 1. His dedication stems from support from his family, friends and above all Dr. Corey and his staff. Kudos go to all of you. Keep up the good work Pat.
Way to go Uncle Pat!!!!!
