Shelter a Vet is a CrossFit charity WOD to raise money to help support the ABCCM Veterans’ Restoration Quarters. Their mission is to create a principle-based environmnet and comprehensive residential program that addresses every area of restoration in the life of a homeless veteran. They work to provide each man with stability, personal skill building, educational and training opportunities that lead to employment and housing all the while restoring the personal dignity, faith and strength of each veteran.

Fighters are some of the most well-conditioned and powerful athletes in the world. This is due, in part, to their striking training since punching and kicking with true power, speed and accuracy requires people to utilize their entire body from the ground up. As a consequence, striking is one of the most rudimentary and functional movements that involve the core.
Developed by Martial Arts Masters Hall-of-Fame inductee and SWAT team member, George Ryan, CrossFit Striking is designed to take both the skills and the benefits from a fighter’s striking training program and integrate them into CrossFit workouts. It is a program that is grounded in success since it has grown out of George’s system of striking and self-protection that he has been teaching to tactical operators and law enforcement personnel around the country for over twelve years.

Registration for the Open is LIVE!
If you are wondering why you should participate in the Open, take a look at Coach Corey’s article from last year, Why do a fitness competition if you’re not competitive? Whether you are trying to qualify for regionals or not, CrossFit Asheville would like to encourage as many of you to sign up as we can. This is an excellent opportunity to get benchmarks for your strengths and weaknesses and then set goals for improving those areas. You can cast your vote for the sport of CrossFit by signing up and participating in what is likely the biggest online sporting event in history. And…it’s pretty dang fun to do the Open workouts with your pals at CFA.
The cost for participating in the Open will be $20. It is not yet determined when we will do the workouts as a group each week but we do know there will be multiple options for completing the workouts.

Safety first with our CFA Kids!
Attention CFA/ Fitness community: we are in the process of restarting the CFA kids program and wanted to get some information from the community regarding interest. This will be open to the community at large, and will range from $70-80 per month for 2 classes per week- depending on age with a 5 kid per class minimum. Also, times for the program are likely to be M&Th afternoons for the younger kids, and Tues and Friday for the older kids. Please email Amber Beane at amberbeane@gmail with CFA Kids as the subject if you are interested. Please include the age(s) of your child(ren) and any questions you may have.

Are you feeling that a particular lift has fallen behind? Have you discovered any notable weakness or imbalance, but don’t know how to address them on your own? CrossFit Asheville is now extending consultations for individuals to help learn more about their structural balance.
- Prepare for exercise in this half hour session so dress appropriately! Clients will need to gather present Deadlift, Back Squat, Front Squat, Overhead Squat, Lunge Squat or Split Squat, Pull Up, Dip, 1-arm DB HP, 1-arm DB Press/ Power Clean data prior to the consultation as able.
